Walked into my local Shoppers Drug Mart today to pick up a few items and happened upon a new eyeshadow palette from Covergirl. This is the Jewels Palette, and it is the 4th addition to the TruNaked line. If you’ve never used any of Covergirl’s TruNaked palettes, you really are missing out, as they are, in my opinion, the best drugstore eyeshadow palettes available. Covergirl boasts that “these intensely pigmented shadows offer smooth, blendable application and rich payout—just like a leading $50 eyeshadow palette”, and I agree as discussed in my blog post on the other palettes here: https://idreambeauty.com/2015/12/11/new-covergirl-trunaked-eyeshadow-palettes-nudes-roses-golds-review-and-swatches/.
With the Jewel palette there are 3 different textures: matte, shimmer and sparkly, and the shades are simply stunning! That blue and purple for instance……gorgeous!!
After swatching, and applying to my eyes, I can tell you that these shadows all swatch AMAZING. The shadows are ALL very pigmented and buttery soft. The glitter shades are not chunky or course, and are very subtle. The shadows blend easily, and I did not need to use a primer prior to application. Because these shadows are so buttery soft, you do get some fallout. I haven’t yet tested out their longevity, but will update this post after a few days of use.
- Pearl (shimmer)
- Quartz (matte)
- Sunstone (subtle glitter)
- Amethyst (matte with light hint of shimmer)
- Sapphire (matte with a light hint of shimmer)
- Green Amber (subtle glitter)
- Gold ( satin)
- Onyx (matte with subtle glitter)
As with the other palettes, Covergirl has named all the individual shades. As well, included on the back are looks designed by Pat McGrath! If you peel up the back, you will see a key for crease/brow bone/eyelid and corner of the eye, and some easy, breezy tips, as well as each shade’s name.
I am really impressed with the performance of this palette. There isn’t one shade that doesn’t perform well, and I love the shades…..surprising, because I am not one for glitter and sparkle, but it is so subtle here, that it works! Purchase price was $12.99 (Canadian), and available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. Has anyone else spotted it? ALSO, if you don’t already, give me a follow on Instagram ( idreaminbeauty), as I will be giving away one of the Jewel palettes 🙂
