I couldn’t resist during my recent trip to Sephora and picked up the new blush palette designed by Gwen Stefani for Urban Decay. Everything in the limited-edition Gwen Stefani collection was developed in close collaboration with Gwen and were inspired by her best defining and highlighting tricks. Gwen Stefani directed the packaging design, which was inspired by her love of black-and-white graphic prints and antique gold accents. The palette contains four shades of blush, a bronzer, and a highlighter that Urban Decay claims is versatile enough for any skintone.
- Cherry is a light pink satin blush
- Easy is a deep rose with gold shimmer blush
- Angel is a champagne-nude shimmer blush
- Lo-Fi is a soft bronze matte bronzer
- Hush is a medium pink with gold shimmer blush
- OC is a soft pink with peach shift highlighter
I do really like this palette. I have a light-skin tone, so all of the shades work perfectly for me. I don’t feel that these shades will work with medium skin tones or darker, as Urban Decay claims, but for fair to light/medium, they’re perfect. The shades are creamy, pigmented and apply well, all though it does have some fallout around the pan, because some shades are a bit powdery. The amount of shimmer is very subtle and gives the skin a dewy and fresh look. It does retail for $45 US and $60 Canadian, but you get a lot of product with a sturdy case and large mirror inside the case, making it perfect for travel. However, this palette is not for everyone and is definitely geared towards those with fair to light skin tone. I don’t feel that medium to dark skin tones would get much use out of this palette, and especially at the listed price, it’s just not worth it for them. I do hope that Urban Decay and Gwen Stefani collaborate again to make a darker palette for other skin tones, instead of having just the one palette, that is geared towards Gwens own skin tone a little too much. Thoughts?
