New from Maybelline and available now both in the US and Canada, is Maybelline’s new Master Contour Face Contouring Kit, which consists of a contour shade, a blush and a highlight. The Kit is available in 2 defining shades: #10 which is Light to Medium and #20 which is Medium to Deep.
Up first, we have the kit for light to medium skin tones:
I feel that these are really nice shades for fair skin. The contour shade is a very natural matte shade that doesn’t look muddy on the face. The blush is not quite matte, though it looks it in the pan. It has a very light sheen to it, and is a pinky pink. The highlight is a vanilla champagne shade that isn’t too glittery and adds a very nice glow. The pigmentation is great, they apply and blend nicely with little to no fallout.
I will admit, that my skintone is too light for this contour shade, but I loved the look of the blush in this kit so had to pick it up as well! It contains a warm brown matte contour powder, a beautiful shimmery peachy blush, that reminds me of NARS Orgasm, and a glittery peach-champagne highlight. The pigmentation is great as well, but I found this palette to be much more powdery with more fallout. As well, the highlight shade is more chunky and is too glittery for my personal taste. (Unfortunately you can’t see this in the swatches).
Overall I like these palettes and feel the #10 shade is perfect for my skintone (MAC NC20), and I feel they’re great as a drugstore option. However, I am not sure with there only being 2 shades to choose from, whether they will suit all skintones. I also wish they came with a mirror in the compact, since Maybelline markets them as “face contouring on the go”. There is a brush included in the palette, but it’s way too dense and not at all soft enough to apply the powders!
Available starting at $9.99US and $12.99 Canadian.
