Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush & Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush

blog09 043

When it comes to beauty brands, Neutrogena isn’t a name that pops into my head.  I’ve used their skincare and sunscreen products before, but never their makeup products.  As I was shopping the other day, I came across these pretty compacts of blush & highlighters and was surprised to see that they were by Neutrogena & are new to the market.  I decided to purchase a couple, and after testing them here’s what I have to say…

Neutrogena  Healthy Skin Blush

Nitrogen states that their Healthy Skin Blush is:

Enriched with Vitamin C and botanical conditioners, and designed to blend evenly and beautifully to instantly enhance skin’s healthy glow. The powder technology incorporates advanced gel systems for easy application and soft feel.

The blush are available in 5 shades:

Rosy (Shade 10): Soft Pink Blush
Vibrant (Shade 20): Pink Blush
Flushed (Shade 30): Pinkish-Red Blush
Bronzed (Shade 40): Bronzer
Luminous (Shade 50): Illuminating Powder

I chose to go with the shade Vibrant ( #20 )

VIBRANT BLENDED OUT

Vibrant is a very pigmented pretty pink blush, a little goes a long way.  When you swirl your finger in the pan, the formula feels very soft.  However, when applied, it feels almost stiff and chalky which makes it more difficult to blend out. I do wonder if this is because of the “advanced gel systems” that Neutrogena has incorporated into the blush?  Vibrant looks like a matte finish, but when applied and blended out, I did notice very small shimmer particles.  As well, there is quite a bit of fallout as it is quite a powdery blush.  It retails for $8.99 at Walgreens

I’m not very excited about the Healthy Skin Blush.  It’s an OK product, but definitely not one that I am going to rave about, and for $8.99 I would pass on repurchase.

I chose to go with the shade Pure #20.

PURE BLENDED TOGETHER AND SHEARED OUT

Pure contains a mix of 2 pinks, a peach and a champagne.  It does feel soft in the pan, however, the formula is powdery and chalky, with a lot of fallout, making it quite messy in the pan when you swirl your brush.  It doesn’t feel as stiff to blend out as the Blush, but I find it doesn’t blend as nice as other products I’ve used.  It does give a soft sheer pink highlight, with a delicate sheen….not over the top, which is nice. It retails for $11.49 at Walgreens.

Once again I’m not overly excited about this product.  It isn’t something I would re-purchase, especially at that price point.

I hope Neutrogena continues to revamp and introduce more makeup products to the market.  I just feel like there isn’t anything special about these products.  What do you think?  Have you tried them out as well, or any other Neutrogena products?

Thanks for stopping by!

Now that you mention it, I don’t think I have anything from Neutrogena in my makeup collection! I’m definitely going to have to check them out(:
