NYX High Voltage Lipstick

In the Spring of 2015, NYX released the new High Voltage Lipsticks and it consisted of 22 new permanent shades.  I recently picked up another shade from this line and realized…”hey I failed to blog about these guys”, so I’m going to share with you my thoughts.

When I hear high voltage I think of a warning that something carries high, often fatal, levels of electricity.  So in this case I was expecting highly pigmented and dramatic levels of colour, and I wasn’t disappointed.

All three of the lipsticks I purchased are very pigmented and packed with colour.  They glide on smoothly and with a nice creamy finish.  They feel moisturizing on the lips, but are not the longest wearing lipsticks, with averaging 2-3 hours of wear time before I have to re-apply.  Personally this isn’t an issue for me, as I love the creamy feel of the lipsticks and sacrifice the wear time for this.

Below are the colours (left to right):

  • HVLS 19 Tiara a deep pink coral
  • HVLS 05 Flutter Kiss a soft pink mauve
  • HVLS 15 Tan-Gerine a nude coral

My big negative with this line is the packaging.  It is basic packaging with the colour of the lipstick matching the case of the bullet.  The problem is the clear cap does not close tight so it’s forever coming off!!  Be careful that it doesn’t make a mess in your purse or makeup bag because thats what will happen if the cap comes off!  Please NYX fix the packaging !!

Ugh, I hate clear caps. Luckily packaging is rarely a deal breaker with me
