L’Oreal has finally released 2 new permanent eyeshadow palettes for Spring 2015, La Palette Nude 1 and 2. They had been teasing us with “Coming Soon” markers in stores in the US for what seemed like ages and they are rumored to be available by months end in Canada.
Today I will review LaPalette Nude 2. This is a 10 shadow selection, consisting of a nice mix of nude taupe, mauve and plum shades. It is a cool toned palette and it contains 7 matte and 3 satin eyeshadows.
The palette is packaged in a black plastic case with gold lettering, which adds to it’s appeal and makes it look classy.
It comes with a dual ended brush & sponge applicator. There is also a nice sized mirror inside the palette, which is very functional especially with travel.
The back of the palette features 4 different looks with instructions and a diagram for each look.
A closer look at the shadows with swatches:
The pigmentation is very good as the swatches above are done without a primer. Shadows 1, 2 and 6 are satins, and the remaining are mattes.
Considering there are quite a few mattes here, they swatch well, and aren’t hard to blend. But, they definately need a primer for best application on your eyes. They wear very well.
Overall I feel this would be a perfect substitute for anyone who doesn’t want to pay upwards of $40 for a Lorac or Urban Decay eyeshadow palette. Are they as good as Urban Decay or Lorac? When compared to them, no of course not, but they are pretty darn good for a drugstore brand and I think that’s what we have to remember when reviewing these shadows. Not everyone can afford or have access to luxury brand cosmetics, and I really feel that these shadows perform very well.
This does retail for $15.99 at Walmart in the US and $19.99 at Ulta. So be sure to shop around and look for coupons and sales.
Have you purchased any of the 2 palettes? If you did I’d love for you to share your thoughts ❤
