Maybelline The Brights Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Maybelline has released their third 12 pan eyeshadow palette in the highly anticipated “The Brights”.  I absolutely love “The Nudes” Palette that was released in 2014, and also enjoy “The Smokes” Palette as well. So…..I was very excited when my Sister-In-Law was able to pick this up for me at her local Target.  In the US,  the palette has been making appearances at Target, for $9.99….however, be it short appearances, as they have been selling out quickly.  Unfortunately, I haven’t heard of any sightings in Canada.

No doubt, there are some very pretty colours in this palette.  I love how the “bright” shades are quite subtle and mixed in with neutral shades.  I’m not a bright eyeshadow kind of gal, so I was pleasantly surprised at how subdued the shades were.

Let’s look at swatches & talk about how the shadows perform.

Here is the TOP ROW:

And now the BOTTOM ROW:

Clearly there are a few duds in this palette, and they all call the bottom row home!  Both the purple, black and even the deep brown on the right of the bottom row are chalky with poor pigmentation and are quite difficult to blend.  Otherwise , the other 9 shades perform fairly well on their own, but definitely benefit from the use of a primer.  But that’s not really a big deal in  my books, because really??…..who doesn’t use a primer anyway?

So do I recommend this palette?  Yes.  Yes I do.  Why?  Well despite the poor performance of a few shades, I feel the other shades perform well BUT with the use of a PRIMER.  If you get this palette & don’t use a primer, you’re not going to like it.

So what do you think?  Will you be picking it up?  Have you already tried it?

Until next time…..thanks for stopping by! ❤

Great to know! I think the layout of the colors is odd! Did you try/like The Nudes?

I have the Nudes palette & use it quite often. It’s good but needs a primer as well 🙂

She lives in San Jose, so it would of been a Target there. Hope this helps!
