The Essence Dark Romance Collection, which was released in Europe last year, is now hitting shelves at Canada’s Shoppers Drug Mart! Just in time, and perfect for Fall. Essence describes the collection as:
Deep, dark and beautiful! With the new essence trend edition “dark romance”, things are going to get mystical and romantic with a touch of darkness – a perfect match for the catwalk trend of the coming winter season: “gothic glamour”!
As per the usual Canadian releases, we don’t get all items in the collection…we missed out on a lipstick, blush and eyeshadow quad.
Let’s review what I picked up.
A Romance To Remember Eyeshadow Quad
The shadows were swatched without a primer used. The first colour and last colour swatched very well, and were soft and buttery. The second and third ones were a bit more chalky and had some fallout. I love the colours and feel they’d definitely benefit from a primer.
Velvet Mouse Blush in Painted Love
I was so intrigued by this blush, I had to try it. It comes in a very pretty pot. I know….it looks really weird & kind of like bright red canned tomatoes! Once blended into the skin however, it becomes quite sheer and leaves a natural flush of colour. It does require a bit of rubbing to get it all blended in. Once blended it leaves a powdery finish.
Red Romance Lipstick
Red Romance is a beautiful cherry red. I love the new lipstick tubes that Essence lipsticks have and I love how the collection is written on the tube. I have no idea why the lipstick looks like it has the Chicken Pox…..all the lipsticks had this….after the pics were taken, I was able to wipe the dots off. Perhaps a little September sweat?!
Light Up! Cream Highlighter
This highlighter glides easily onto the skin and has the most beautiful touch of iridescent pink. I didn’t quite blend it out very well in the above pics, but the more you blend the less noticeable the iridescence is. I like it!
There were also a few other items in the collection that I passed on. Namely, nail polishes and lip gloss as well as nail art and body tattoos:
So what do you think of the collection? Will you be picking anything up?
Thanks for stopping by!
