L’Oreal Sublime Soft Gentle Micellar Solution…..A Disappointment

bioderma2

I was intrigued  to try the new L’Oreal Sublime Micellar Solution and was excited when I  happened to find it unexpectedly while in Rexall’s.

I am a Bioderma Fan.  I. Love. Bioderma.  I have been using the Bioderma Micelle Solution as my holy grail makeup remover for well over 3 years.  I cannot say enough good things about the Bioderma Micelle Solotion.

It easily removes your makeup….even waterproof mascara,  and feels as light as water.  No residue. No scent.  I really like how this product doesn’t leave that tight irritated feeling on my skin afterwards and you can get away without rinsing (good for those late nights when you are too tired).  I have never felt a stinging to my eyes, a problem I have with other makeup removers.  The packaging is very functional.  It has a flip up lid, and it pours out slowly…..you can control whether you take a lot or a little onto your cotton pad.  There are a couple of downfalls to loving this product.  Firstly, it is expensive…about $22 Canadian.  Also, I know for some people it is hard to find.  I am lucky, in that my local Shoppers Drug Mart carries it and it’s readily available.  Also the price really doesn’t bother me because it’s worth it in my opinion.

But as I said earlier, I was intrigued to test out L’Oreals take on a Micellar Solution.  Unfortunately I was disappointed.  Well, the price was right, at $12.99…..but that’s about it.

The product does remove your makeup, but it leaves a sticky, irritating feeling to the skin.  Definitely have to rinse your face after using it……and THE SMELL!! I didn’t notice it straight from the bottle.  It’s sneaks up on you after your face has a chance to dry.  It smells like dirty,  skunky water.  I can’t quite put my finger on it.  All I know is it was gross.  The packaging is another fail….it POURS out onto your cotton pad, so you end up using way too much product.  Ughh, I gave it a try for 3 days then HAD to STOP.  My dear friend Bioderma was waiting for me!!

So for me, the clear winner was the Bioderma Micelle Solution.  Sorry L’Oreal, I wanted to like you but your Solution is a big BOMB.  100% DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Anyone else try it?  What are your thoughts?

So, until next time…..

Mary

I’ve not had good luck with Micellar water as well. I tried the one from YSL and hated the sticky feeling afterwards! Bioderma sounds promising..

I’ve never tried the YSL one. Bioderma defiantly doesn’t leave a sticky feeling behind. Thanks for your comment 🙂

Your comparison between the two products has been very helpful!
